My work is a reflection of the natural world around me, particularly the lake we live on and the surrounding bush. Using painting as my primary medium, I work mostly with acrylic on canvas, applying pigment with palette knives to build texture and movement. My pieces are inspired by travel, landscapes, and the subtle yet powerful transitions found in sunrises, sunsets, and the shifting interplay of natural light, shadows, and reflections on water and glass.
My creative process often begins with a realist representation, but it quickly evolves into impressionism and, at times, abstraction. This progression allows me to express not only what I see, but also what I feel—capturing the mood and essence of a place rather than its precise form. Each painting is a journey that mirrors my internal dialogue with nature and the environment.
I draw influence from the many modern and contemporary art galleries I visit during my travels. For example, places like Santa Fe have provided exceptional opportunities to experience the work of artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, whose approach to form and nature has had a profound impact on my practice. Other inspirations drawn from trips to Europe include Monet, Chagal, Picasso and Miró, whose bold styles and innovative techniques continually challenge and inform my artistic voice.
Ultimately, my art is a personal and evolving dialogue with the world around me—a way of translating fleeting moments of beauty and insight into visual narratives that resonate beyond the canvas.
